A unique hand-knotted nomadic vintage Baluch rug from Herat environs of West Afghanistan. Tribal Baluch rugs come in many designs and styles however they often have richer colours such as reds and terracottas, blues, blacks and occasionally greens and other colours. This traditional Afghan rug measures approximately 49x66cm (1.7 x 2.2ft) - this rug has lots of character in the design of flowers in a vase - it has gorgeous deep dark wool together with bright highlights. Although this rug is woven in 99% wool the bright colours in some of the motifs are woven in bright coloured cotton - this gives a completely different look in that cotton stays bright and fades less over time so that's why the bright detail is still so bright! These rugs are also known as Beluch, Balouch, Belouch, Baluchi, Belouchi. The designs are geometric but sometimes the prayer niche (Mihrab) or tree of life design can be found. This is a semi antique small authentic tribal rug woven on a simple wooden portable ground loom. Find out more about our Rug Underlays Here.
