Unique vintage Turkish kilim floor cushion from Malatya - originally a family village storage sack but they make great large strong floor cushions. This authentic flatweave floor cushion from Turkey is woven in kilim slit-weave technique on the front and hand-woven flat weave kilim technique on the reverse and measures approximately 54x103cm (1.9 x 3.4½ft) - we love the all over motif pattern woven in softer autumnal colours. Malatya is one of the largest cities of central-eastern Anatolia, between the steppes of Central Anatolia and the rugged terrain of Eastern Anatolia. This region is renowned for its amazing apricot orchards, some of the best organic apricots come out of this region. Rugs have been produced in this area for 100's of years although much less so in recent times. Weavings from Malatya tend to have excellent soft and superior wool quality.
If you purchase this item unstuffed you will need to sew it up to close it as it is an original piece, and the weavers generally don't use zips! If you would like your cushion stuffed, please purchase the recommended sized filler by ticking the box next to the cushion to add the filler to your basket, we will then sew it up ready for you.
(If the recommend filler has a Hollow Fibre Size 1, 2, 3 or 4 descriptions (HF1, HF2, HF3, HF4) then it means we use a hollow fibre duvets in whatever size fills the cushion, you can also use your own and sew the cushion up yourself after).
Note: we do not ship some of the larger fillers outside the UK Mainland, this is to keep postage costs to a minimum.
