Product Information

Traditional village made Pamukkale Turkish Kilim Rug.  This Kilim is woven in the flat slit-weave technique and features central stripe design containing lucky amulets in soft colours.  This unique Kelim rug from Turkey is an authentic semi-antique piece ie c.1960s and measures approx 86cm wide by 166cm long - woven in wool.

This piece was woven in the environs of a town called Denizli, in Turkey's Western Usak Province - Pamukkale (cotton castle translated from Turkish), is a site renowned for its hot springs which have created white travertine terraces over many years.  Denizli is a City in the high country between the Aegean and Mediterranean regions of western of Turkey - these Kilims are woven by Turkmen Yoruk tribes - the descendants of the Turkic tribes that settled in Anatolia hundreds of years ago.  Apart from Kilim weaving, Denizli is also famous for its Hammam towel production.
