11763 Turkish Vintage Balikesir Rug 85x126cm (2.9½ x 4.1½ft)

An authentic small vintage Turkish rug from the Balikesir Marmara region of north west Turkey which is handmade and hand knotted with a wool pile. This original village rug from Turkey measures approximately 85x126cm (2.9½ x 4.1½ft) - this is a fabulous colourful little rug, we love the bright yellows, reds and greens and the star pattern in the border - a cute little hearth rug, these small rugs are easy to fit in many places around the home.  See more about Rug Motifs, Symbols & Meaning here.

Rugs and Kilims from this region are made by the descendants of the Turkoman Yoruks that settled in the outlying villages. Whilst Balikesir is an agricultural and industrial region of north west Turkey, it is also famous for its dairies and stock breeding.  It has large plantations of vegetables, wheat and sunflowers as well as grapes and melons. Its is renowned for its olive based products and also a tourist destination for mounting walking.
