A colourful hand-knotted thick wool Afghan Afshari pile rug made by Uzbek tribes in the villages around Mazar Sharif in Northern Afghanistan. This Afshari rug measures approximately 153x198cm (5 x 6.6ft) excluding any fringes - this is a gorgeous rug, not only is the pattern intricate and interesting but the colours are really unique, the design is similar to that seen in Mamluk rugs. See more about Rug Motifs, Symbols & Meaning here.
These newly made, unusual rugs are woven with a deep pile compared to other finer Afghan weaves and have a very nice rustic handmade look to them. The colours are out of the ordinary and they have quirky designs and colour ways as well as being strong and sturdy pieces. For information on our Rug Underlays look here.
