An authentic vintage hand-knotted Turkish wool rug from Dosemealti in southern Turkey. Completely handmade using 100% village produced hand spun wool. Pile rugs from Dosemealti tend to have soft and superior wool quality together with bold, simple designs, predominately blue with hints of red, green and cream colours. This is a one of a kind rug and it measures approximately 123x213cm (4.0½ x 6.11½ft) - we love the classic Dosemealti soft colours and central medallion pattern. Many people from Cyprus and also nomadic Turkmens have also settled in this region. Rugs used to be woven on simple looms on the veranda's of local families in the surrounding villages but you rarely see this anymore. As Dosemealti is in the south and in a very hot and sunny part of Turkey, dealers send their rugs to this town for washing where you find big rug washing plants in the surrounding countryside.
