Quality village made Turkish Kilim Rug from the environs of a town called Esme, in Turkey's Western Usak Province - this piece is woven in the flat slit-weave technique and features stunning colours and has a tree of life prayer design with multiple complex borders and intricate motifs and emblems. This unique Kelim rug from Turkey is an authentic semi-antique piece ie c.1960s and measures approx 122cm wide by 161cm long - woven in wool on wool.
The Usak region of Turkey has been famous for many years for its kilim weaving traditions and they still make new rugs in this region. Kilim Rugs from Esme normally have geometric or striped patterns using hand-spun wool and are renowned for their Mihrab, geometric designs and beautiful colours. These older, original pieces are popular as they have so much individuality.
