Large Yugoslavian flatweave Kilim Rug from the Balkans (Eastern Europe). Flat woven in the traditional way using slit weave Kilim technique. This kelim rug has attractive greens, reds and hints of purples and yellows and measures approx 224cm wide by 320cm long. It was woven in the 1950s. These authentic kilims are normally finely woven; we rarely find such lovely big kilims from this area anymore.

These kilims are also known as Gocmen kilims (Gocmen means migrant) and are similar to the Bulgarian Kilims having been woven for many years whilst the Balkans were under Turkish Ottoman Rule and were generally woven as gifts to family members to be hung on walls or used on the floor.
