Large size Turkish Kilim Rug handwoven in the Mut region of Southern Turkey (they are also known as Kelims). This large traditional kilim is woven using zili flat weave technique - we love the very different colour combination in this one with its gorgeous oranges, ochres, reds and bright blue highlights. This rug measures approximately 198x347cm (6.6 x 11.4½ft) excluding tassels.
These flat woven rugs were originally made by the migratory Taurus Yoruks who were of Central Asian Turkic origin. Today the Yoruks lead a semi-nomadic way of life in the southern Taurus mountain region of Anatolia, moving between summer and winter pastures where they set up their encampments (Yayla).
