Vintage tribal Afghan Baluchi kilim saddlebag from Afghanistan. Originally used for storage and also during tribal migration, however today they make great storage pouches either over a chair or on the wall, they also make lovely wall hangings. This small kilim Afghan saddlebag measures approximately 39x94cm excluding any tassels - this one has been finely woven and has colourful greens, blues and ochres in the colour way. Please note this is an old piece and has a few holes (as shown in images) and some slightly marked areas, that aside it is a really gorgeous and decorative saddlebag. Saddlebags feature two kilim or carpet pouches and can vary in size from small like this one to very large sizes - the large sizes would be the ones used over animals for transporting items. This tribal group from Afghanistan are also known as Beluch, Balouch, Belouch, Baluchi, Belouchi to name a few!
