Tribal vintage Afghan Baluchi kilim saddlebag from Afghanistan. Originally used for storage and also during tribal migration, however today they make great storage pouches either over a chair or on the wall. They also make lovely wall hangings. This small kilim Afghan saddlebag measures approximately 31x77cm excluding any tassels - we love the fabulous bright colours in this one together with the hints of gold in some of the weaving and the stunning greens used on the reverse of this small handwoven tribal piece. Saddlebags feature two kilim or carpet pouches and can vary in size from small like this one to very large sizes - the large sizes would be the ones used over animals for transporting items. This tribal group from Afghanistan are also known as Beluch, Balouch, Belouch, Baluchi, Belouchi to name a few!
