Traditional village made Turkish pile rug from the environs of a town called Manisa in the Aegean region of West Turkey. Hand-knotted in wool this rug is original and one of a kind. This unique rug from Turkey is an authentic vintage piece measuring approx 105x127cm (3.5 x 4.2ft) excluding any fringes - we love the tree of life design and the pretty colours in the decorative border. Manisa is an old city not far from Izmir, it is an industrial region but has lots of farming and agriculture in the outlying areas. The villages surrounding Manisa are famous for their prized weavings such as Yunt Dağı, Gördes and Kula, although weaving has all but stopped in this area. For information on our underlays look here.
