Finely hand-knotted original Baluch War Rug from the Herat environs of West Afghanistan. The Baluch are also known as Beluch, Balouch, Belouch, Baluchi, Belouchi.  This Authentic Afghan rug measures approximately 94x150cm (3.1 x 4.11ft) excluding any fringes - we don't often get these Afghan War Rugs, check out the tanks, grenades and the Kalashnikovs! Baluch rugs come in many types however they often have richer colours such as reds and terracottas, blues, blacks and occasionally greens and other colours. The designs are geometric but sometimes the prayer niche (Mihrab) or tree of life design can be found. Usually these rugs are small to medium in size as they would be woven on simple wooden portable ground looms, they are not often very wide.
