Rustic oriental Persian hand-knotted Songhor Rug from the Hamadan region - a genuine rug which is handmade and hand-knotted in wool. These rugs are usually woven with hand spun wool pile with cotton warps giving a good strong and robust rug that will last for many years. This traditional vintage Songhor Hamadan Rug measures approximately 130x219cm (4.3 x 7.2ft) excluding any tassels - this rugs is gorgeous, it has one end border which is a stunning petrol blue colour and lovely bird motifs throughout! We also love the way the background colour changes throughout the rug, this is common in handmade rugs and is called Abrash. See more about Rug Motifs, Symbols & Meaning here.​

These authentic Persian carpets come from the villages within the greater Hamadan area of north west Persia and typically have geometric designs but occasionally will have an all over pattern.
