A high quality hand-knotted decorative Afghan Sultan pile rug from Afghanistan measuring approx 175x239cm (5.8½ x 7.10ft) - another fabulous example of a very interesting Sultan carpet, this piece has truly unusual colours, we love the colourful floral design against the more neutral browny grey background colour.

These very elegant and decorative handmade Afghan Rugs are newly made and are hand-knotted using old traditional methods.  They have been developed for their amazing out of the ordinary colours and floral design which lend themselves well to both modern and traditional homes alike.  “Sultan” refers to the design rather than the people that weave these hand knotted rugs and carpets. These types of rugs are re-creations of antique Oriental designs and they use wonderful soft wools. Their all over decorative floral designs are a contrast to geometric rug patterns. They are 100% hand-woven by Afghan people with hand spun wool pile - the wool used in these rugs is very good quality.  We are very particular about colours and designs when buying these fine rugs and only choose top quality pieces in unusual colours with superb wool.
