11241 Vintage Turkish Mut Cicim Kilim Rug 105x129cm (3.5 x 4.2½ft)

Turkish Kilim Rug handwoven in the Mut region of Southern Turkey (they are also known as Kelims). This traditional kilim is woven using cicim flat weave kilim technique and measures approximately 105x129cm (3.5 x 4.2½ft) excluding any tassels - we love the beautiful rustic feel of this little rug together with the fabulous tassels - this rug is made of sheep wool and goat hair - would look fabulous on the floor or used as a wall hanging. See more about Rug Motifs, Symbols & Meaning here.

These flat woven rugs were originally made by the migratory Taurus Yoruks who were of Central Asian Turkic origin. Today the Yoruks lead a semi-nomadic way of life in the southern Taurus mountain region of Anatolia, moving between summer and winter pastures where they set up their encampments (Yayla).  Mut Kilims are not generally woven for export but are woven for the own use of the weaver.
