Village made original, traditional vintage Turkish Cal Kilim Rug. This is an original and authentic piece hand-woven in wool on cotton using the slit weave technique and measuring approx 59x116cm (1.11 x 3.10ft) excluding any tassels. This Cal rug from Turkey is a one of a kind piece and semi-antique.The bright colours are woven mostly in cotton which gives a completely different look to that of a rug woven in all wool - cotton stays bright and doesn't fade down over time so that's why the bright detail is still so bright!.  We love the colourful nature of this sweet little flat-weave together with the central motif design. Cal is a small town north-east of Denizli known for weaving both flat-woven and pile knotted rugs although not many rugs are now made in this area. Kilims from the Cal region are quite unusual and have interesting geometric patterns and colours such as burnt orange, terracottas and blues. Cal Kilims have their own unusual designs, commonly having a central medallion on a fairly open ground but there can be exceptions to this.
