10983 Afghan Khal Mohammedi Carpet 201x306cm (6.7 x 10.0½ft)

Large size traditional Afghan wool Khal Mohammedi Rug. These hand-knotted Afghan rugs are woven using rich dyed terracotta wools and generally woven in the Kunduz region of Northern Afghanistan. This newly made large Khal Mohammadi Carpet measures approx 201x306cm (6.7 x 10.0½ft) - we love the deep warm terracotta colours and fine weave of this large carpet.

These rugs were originally developed by a man named Khal Mohammad who was an expert at producing finely woven, high quality rugs with very good and beautiful natural red and terracotta dyes, they are still made today and are very popular due to the rich autumnal colouring. 100% hand made with a wool pile; the fringes (warp) are normally grey wool or grey or off white cotton.
