10011 Turkish Small Vintage Dazkiri Kilim Rug 78x118cm (2.6½ x 3.10½ft)

This traditional flat woven Dazkiri Turkish Kilim Rug has been handmade in a village near the town of Afyon in Central Anatolia - this piece is woven in the flat slit-weave technique. This beautiful piece of folk art would look lovely as a rug on the floor or on the wall.  This unique Kelim rug from Turkey is an authentic vintage piece and it measures approx 78x118cm (2.6½ x 3.10½ft) - woven in wool on wool - we love the amazing bright greens and reds in this small kilim.

These flat woven rugs are made by the Turkmen Yoruk tribes - the descendants of the Turkic tribes that settled in Central Anatolia hundreds of years ago, in the mountainous countryside inland from the Aegean coast.  The name Afyon (Kara Hisar) means, literally “opium black castle” in Turkish, since opium was widely grown here and there is a castle on a black rock.
