Measuring up for a rug

 

As rugs and carpets come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, when measuring your space it might be helpful to bear the following in mind:

 

It is possible that you may see a rug you particularly like but it is, for example, a foot longer than you have originally measured.  However, if you have measured your maximum width/length and minimum width/length you will know the absolute boundaries you can go to, or need to stay within, in both directions.

 

An example is shown in the diagram, giving measurements of:

 

Min width 4ft and max width 5ft

Min length 6ft and max length 8ft

 

This means if you can’t find your exact size you might consider a rug measuring 4.6 x 7ft for example.
